Arab-Jewish Musical Traditions: religious Secrets from the Past to the Future

Sun, 15. Aug // 13:00, Arab-Jewish Musical Traditions: religious Secrets from the Past to the Future ()

Provisional program

We can’t visit the future of the MEU without revisiting the musical maps of the past. The Arab-Jews who used to live in Muslim countries used local Makams (Classic Arabic musical scales) and sang them with the holy words of the “Piyyutim” (Jewish liturgical poems) in order to open the heaves.

Fraenkelufer Synagogue will host a special event in which these two musical traditions will merge in a live event of singing and music playing.

Guests:

Cantor Assaf Levitin

Mazen Ragheb Mohsen
