Arab-Jewish Musical Traditions: Religious secrets from past and future

Sun, 15. Aug // 13:00, Synagoge am Fraenkelufer (Fraenkelufer 10, 10999 Berlin)

Live event

We can’t visit the future of the MEU without revisiting the musical maps of the past. The Arab-Jews who used to live in Muslim countries used local Makams (Classic Arabic musical scales) and sang them with the holy words of the “Piyyutim” (Jewish liturgical poems) in order to open the heaves.  A special event in which these two musical traditions will merge in a live event of singing and music playing.
